Susana Pinilla appointed new CAF Country Director in Panama
- CAF President Enrique García made the announcement.
- The new director, a native of Peru, has held top positions in the public and private sectors.
- Susana Pinilla participated in VI Microfinance Central American and Caribbean Conference’s opening session in Panama City.
Pinilla will replace Rubén Ramírez, who will serve as CAF Country Director in Argentina after completing a successful mission in Panama.
Before joining CAF –development bank of Latin America–Pinilla held top positions in the public and private sectors. In Peru, her homeland, she served as Labor and Employment Promotion Minister; Women’s and Social Development Minister; adviser to the President of the Republic and was public air company CORPAC’s board member.
She has also been the founder and executive president of IDESI, a pioneering institution in financial and productive inclusion in Peru; founder and board chairwoman of PROEMPRESA, a Peruvian financial institution focused on microfinance. She has also been an international consultant, with experience in Latin America, Africa and Asia.
Pinilla, a San Marcos University graduate, has a degree in Anthropology, as well as one in Business Administration from ESAN business school. She also has a masters’ degree in Governance and Public Policy from San Martín de Porres University.
She has taught postgraduate courses at the Applied Sciences and San Martín de Porres universities, and has authored several publications.
