7th Regional Workshop of the Resilient, Low-Emission Development Strategies Platform
CAF PROMOTES SECTORAL, MULTILEVEL ARTICULATION TO IMPLEMENT THE PARIS AGREEMENT IN LATIN AMERICA
This year, the LEDs LAC Regional Workshop will be held together with the EUROCLIMA+ program “Dialogue among peers.” Both initiatives will join efforts to foster the implementation of the Paris Agreement’s Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) in Latin America, with special emphasis on sectoral articulation and territorial initiatives.
The workshop will bring together more than 150 international experts who will share and discuss experiences and opportunities to promote the implementation of the NDCs, identify and systematize needs and opportunities for Latin American countries, gather inputs for the Talanoa Dialogue, and identify opportunities for collaboration among participants. The event maximizes interaction among participants, who will have the opportunity to learn about recent experiences in the region, results from studies, application of tools and case studies from participating countries, express their opinions, and share their experiences in plenary sessions and group discussions. They will also participate in training sessions and share the results of their projects with peers in the region, and expand their network of contacts, and identify opportunities for collaboration.
CAF is co-organizing and co-funding the workshop together with other international organizations and multilateral agencies. Ms. Ligia Castro Doens, Corporate Director of Environment and Climate Change at CAF, will participate in the opening session along with Ms. Marcela Cubillos, Minister of the Environment of Chile, Ms. Alicia Bárcenas, Executive Secretary of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), and representatives of EUROCLIMA+ and the IDB. In addition, a specialist of the Climate Change Unit will participate in different meetings and panels.
