2nd Edition of University Essay Competition - Ideas for the Future
In its second edition, the “Ideas for the Future” competition aims to collect the vision of young university students on the development challenges facing Latin America and the Caribbean.
CAF—development bank of Latin America—, along with the region’s central banks, aims to promote an exchange of ideas that contribute to the region’s sustainable development. As part of these events, the talented youth in Ibero-American universities are invited to take part in an ideas competition to help build a better future for the region.
The essays should revolve around development challenges for Latin America and the Caribbean. Here are some questions to guide participants in writing their essays:
- How can Latin American and Caribbean countries avoid falling into the middle-income trap?
- How to balance the social agenda with economic stability?
- How to establish adequate mechanisms to express social discontent?
- What are the most urgent areas to accelerate Latin America’s development?
- How to make Latin American SMEs more competitive and deliver higher quality jobs?
The best national and the best three regional essays will be selected. The authors of the latter will have the opportunity to present their essays at the CAF Conference, to be held in Mexico City in November 2020, and will be eligible to receive a $3,000 award for first place, $2,000 second, and $1,000 to third place.
