Pre-feasibility Study and Project Design for High Performance Computing Centers (HPC) with emphasis on Artificial Intelligence in Latin America and the Caribbean

At CAF we are convinced that our work is a way to improve the quality of life of Latin Americans and Caribbean people, and with this purpose, we understand that high performance computing (HPC) has become a great accelerator of science, technology, the economy and societies, especially for being an enabler of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and other uses of computing for general processes. It is increasingly considered essential for most scientific disciplines and for general technological development. 

Es por eso que en el marco del apoyo a los países de Chile y República Dominicana y su propósito de avanzar con el desarrollo del Ecosistema Digital, CAF, con el apoyo de la MCDF Finance Facility, invita a firmas consultoras con experiencia en el sector de supercómputo, con miembros Sénior del equipo involucrado en proyectos en América Latina y el Caribe u otras regiones en desarrollo y con dominio específico en aplicación de dichas tecnologías en temas de ciencia y tecnología preferentemente de alcance regional, con probada capacidad para ofrecer estudios de mercado detallados y precisos. 

General objective

Carry out a design study of the project “Prefeasibility and Project Design Study for High Performance Computing Centers (HPC) with emphasis on Artificial Intelligence in Latin America and the Caribbean.”

The above should make it possible to obtain information to bring the project to a level of terms of reference for future tenders.

Specific objectives

1. Conduct an analysis of the potential impact of High Performance Computing Centers (HPCs) for general uses, with emphasis on AI in the economies of South America, Central America and the Caribbean.

2. Develop roadmaps for the construction of high-performance computing centers in Chile and Dominican Republic.

3. Preparation of a technical investment proposal for financing from CAF and third parties, including the corresponding engineering projects.

Amount for the consultancy

• Up to US$800,000 (eight hundred thousand US dollars with 00/100).
