Economic and Development Report (EDR) 2020 Presentation - Bolivia

CAF Development Bank of Latin America is pleased to invite interested parties to the presentation of the Economic and Development Report (EDR) 2020 presentation entitled “Pension and healthcare systems in Latin America: The challenges of aging populations, technological change and informal labor.”

21st century social protection in the countries of the region will be strongly conditioned by labor informality, automation and digitalization of production processes, and especially by rapidly aging populations. Indeed, over the next 30 years, the share of Latin Americans aged 65 or older will double to almost 18%.

The EDR 2020 focuses on the nature of the challenges facing social protection systems and public policies to address them. Its primary focus is on pensions and the provision of health and care services for the elderly. Its objective is to provide a comprehensive and in-depth overview of both systems, taking into account the interactions between demographics, the labor market and the factors that determine their financial balance and sustainability. It also offers some keys to building quality and financially sustainable social protection for the elderly.
