CAF at COP26
The twenty-sixth meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP 26) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) will be held in Glasgow, Scotland, with more than 190 world leaders and thousands of negotiators, government representatives, businesses and individuals expected to attend.
As a leader in climate action in the region, CAF will actively participate in COP 26 with a high-level delegation. CAF’s participation will focus on following up on the negotiations, contributing to the different committees and collegiate bodies of the Convention, providing recommendations for climate action, disseminating progress in the implementation of climate action, and presenting the most important results in the structuring of climate projects, in knowledge management for climate and in the implementation of climate policies, coordinating efforts with other IDFC member development banks and multilateral development banks (MDBs) on issues of reporting and mainstreaming of climate financing and climate action, and promoting forums for Latin American delegations to discuss common interests and further the mobilization of climate finance funds.
This year in particular, CAF will announce the Green Agenda, the guiding instrument of environmental and climate management for the countries of the region. The Green Agenda is presented as a cross-cutting, corporate and inter-institutional coordinating mechanism that promotes the incorporation of nature-based solutions into development, providing facilities for low-carbon, climate change resilient growth, which transcends business indicators and kick-starts a virtuous cycle of green financing. Operationally, the Green Agenda allows CAF to leverage green financing towards the region, thus strengthening its catalytic role.
