CAF Conference: Cities with a Future

More than 300 participants, including national and local government authorities, scholars and press members, representatives from international organizations and the private sector will meet in Lima to address the issue of integral development in Latin American cities

Event date:

November 02, 2017 - November 02, 2017

After adopting the New Urban Agenda as part of Habitat III - the United Nations Conference on Housing and Sustainable Urban Development, held in Quito in October 2016 -, the next step is to work on how to implement the agenda's guidelines and better understand the various approaches towards promoting urban development in Latin America.

The transition from a contextual analysis to a hands-on exchange is crucial to outline the strategies to consolidate Latin American cities as major drivers of growth and development in the region.

"CAF Conference: Cities with a Future" will promote debate and share best practices regarding interventions in cities, while also disseminating knowledge based on the successful experiences of different players involved in the process of planning, designing and locally implementing public policies. This proactive exchange will make it possible to challenge current paradigms on urban development, focusing on five pillars of action:

- Fairness and social inclusion

- Comprehensive risk management and resilience

- Productivity

- Infrastructure and connectivity

- Funding

CAF's goal is to promote extensive dialogue among multiple sectors, encouraging the creation of specific proposals while raising awareness regarding the benefits of regional integration across several different levels.

The agenda will be released over the next few days.
