How is COVID-19 impacting Latin American Economies?
International experts will discuss how the COVID-19 pandemic is impacting the region’s economies and the pockets of Latin Americans.
Event date:
April 07, 2020
The COVID-19 pandemic has triggered an unprecedented economic crisis. The world’s main economies are in a sharp recession, which will inevitably impact Latin America.
But what does this mean in the medium term? Which public policies are most effective in alleviating the economic impact of lockdown measures? And how can we protect the middle class and vulnerable population?
These are some of the questions that a group of international experts will answer next Tuesday, April 7 at 9:00 a.m. Bogota time (10:00 a.m. in Caracas; 11:00 a.m. in Buenos Aires) in an online debate organized by CAF—development bank of Latin America.
The hangout will be moderated by Lino Solís de Ovando, editor general of America Economia, and will feature Adriana Arreaza, director of macroeconomic studies at CAF, Juan Ruiz, chief economist at BBVA for Latin America, and Carlos de Sousa, leading emerging markets economist at Oxford Economics.
You can follow the discussion on this site and on AmericaEconomía.com. If you want to ask the panelists any question, post it on Twitter, mentioning our account @AgendaCAF and using the #COVIDLAC hashtag.
