In person | CAF - UNDP Annual Conference on Governance in Latin America and the Caribbean

CAF-development bank of Latin America and the Caribbean- and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) invite you to their first Annual CAF/UNDP Conference on Governance in Latin America and the Caribbean held within the framework of the 78th General Assembly of the United Nations.

Event date:

September 20, 2023

presencial

Effective governance is a fundamental priority for the development of Latin America and the Caribbean and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). SSDG 16 explicitly recognizes this by advocating the need to enable the conditions that make feasible the efforts to achieve the set of sustainable development goals.

The current context, of great political and social uncertainty, where structural deficits coexist with new threats associated with climate change, and where there are also opportunities that emerge from disruptive transitions (digital, green and energy), reinforces the need to address governance issues collectively and appropriately. If not, the situation could result in greater gaps of inequality, polarization and social mistrust, putting at risk advances in human development, public institutions and governance in the region.

Under this premise, CAF and UNDP hope to create a space at the Conference to contribute to the public debate on how to improve policies and research on governance issues as well as how to design the institutional, social, and political conditions that will allow our countries to achieve the goals of the 2030 Agenda.
