Limápolis 2016: The city of hillsides

Limápolis is an international workshop that constitutes a space for theoretical-practical reflection on key subjects for the development of the Peruvian capital, addressed form an urban and architectural point of view

Event date:

March 04, 2016 - March 04, 2016

Organized by the Faculty of Architecture, Urbanism, and Arts of the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (Catholic University of Peru), this event intends to contribute to place the subject of social housing in the poorest areas in the agenda, especially those located in the hillsides of Lima, which are permanently threatened by the possibility of earthquakes.

Another objective is to generate a space for discussion and proposals regarding the subject of public housing from an urban approach, including specific architectural proposals to be materialized by modeling a housing policy.

The event is divided in three parts:

  1. A workshop of projects organized into eight working groups with specific tasks, each in charge of two teachers.
  2. A Cycle of Conferences, with a presentation and discussion of diverse sectorial experiences.
  3. A section of Policies and Feasibility, that includes an exchange of ideas regarding social, economic, policy, and management aspects which will be presented by guests and representatives of different institutions
