December 01, 2008

(Special, December 1, 2008).- The Andean Development Corporation, San Andrés University, the National University of Rosario, and the Graduate School of George Washington University ended the Governance and Political Management Program 2008, with the satisfaction of having trained public authorities and support teams to implement transformation processes with low levels of conflict.

The ceremony held in the University of San Andrés was attended by Elvira Lupo, CAF director of Governance and Technical Cooperation; Carlos Rosenkrantz, rector of the university; and Carlos Acuña, director of Master's in Administration and Public Policy at that university. Also present at the ceremony held in the National University of Rosario were Laura Bartolacci, CEO of Diario La Capital Foundation; Lucio Guberman, academic coordinator of the Local Government and Political Management Program; and Elvira Lupo and Fabián Biccirédecano of the Faculty of Political Science and International Relations.

CAF supports governance processes in its shareholder countries, which is why it is providing Governance and Political Management programs in Argentina, Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru and Venezuela, with the objective of strengthening the capacity of institutions to manage complex problems during execution of structural changes.

So far the program has trained mayors, councilors, chairman of vigilance committees, departmental officers, municipal technical teams, politicians and leaders of organizations to work with local government on specific issues relevant to municipalities, as support for the work of government.

Elvira Lupo said the objective was to emphasize, through suitable training, the importance of recognizing and strengthening an integrated approach to political, economic and social management, with strategic communication and effective leadership.
