CAF promotes social inclusion in Jujuy with various education and energy initiatives

Together with Governor Gerardo Morales and several provincial authorities, representatives of the Development Bank of Latin America (CAF) and a delegation from the National Strategic Affairs Secretariat visited Jujuy Province this week to tour works financed by the CAF that fall within the framework of the Educational Quality Improvement and Access Program (PROMACE), which aims at improving the access and quality of education in the province of Jujuy.
Within the PROMACE framework was a CAF delegation consisting of: Corporate Vice President for Strategic Programming, Christian Asinelli; Representative in Argentina, Santiago Rojas; Main Public Sector Executive, Marisa Spina, and Chief Executive for Sustainable Development Projects in the Southern Region, Ezequiel Galatro. The delegation visited several of the works financed by CAF related to the school infrastructure field.
During the tour they were accompanied by: Governor Gerardo Morales; the Minister of Education for the Province, María Teresa Bovi; National Director of Financing with Regional Credit Organizations (DNFORC-SAE), Marcos Daniel Vago; the National Director of Projects with Bilateral External Financing, Matías Javier Mana. Messrs. Vago and Mana are part of the National Strategic Affairs Secretariat.
Governor Gerardo Morales and Christian Asinelli inaugurated the Center of Funds for Inclusive Education. In the official ceremony, Messrs. Morales and Asinelli referred to their joint commitment to the educational agenda and the efficient usage of funds, with the aim of developing infrastructure that will contribute to improving the quality of education.
The works visited were: Primary School No. 341 in Hornillos; Secondary School No. 45 in Los Lapachos; Secondary School No. 38 in Las Pampitas; Ciudad de las Artes (Provincial School of Arts No. 1 “Medardo Pantoja”, Escuela de Cine, Higher Institute of Arts No. 4, and Instituto Superior de Artes Danza y Teatro).
The infrastructure works are financed by CAF through a sovereign guarantee loan arranged directly with the Governor’s Office with the aim of supporting improvements in the access and quality of education throughout the province.
The CAF representatives also toured the Cauchari Solar Plant, the largest photovoltaic plant in Latin America,
located in the Department of Susques (in southwest Jujuy Province).On the second day of the visit to Jujuy Province, the CAF delegation and National Strategic Affairs Secretariat retinue met in the Infinito por Descubrir building located in Ciudad Cultural, where they participated in the government’s presentation of the provincial plan for the promotion of renewable energy and a thermosolar/photovoltaic hybrid plant to be developed together with INVAP.
The trip was closed with a presentation about the progress made by PROMACE in continuing its agenda for inclusion and quality in education for Jujuy Province. With this tour, CAF reaffirms its support for the economic and educational development of Argentina and of other countries in the region, as well as its strategic commitment to non-conventional renewable energy projects, which have a positive impact on the environment by reducing dependence on fossil fuels.
