Representatives of CAF—development bank of Latin America—and a delegation from the Secretariat of Strategic Affairs of the Nation visited the provinces of Tierra del Fuego and Neuquén to tour, together with provincial authorities, the CAF-funded works within the framework of the “Municipal Infrastructure Development Program Stage I” and the “Program for the Improvement of Territorial Road Connectivity of Neuquén,” which aim to improve road infrastructure in the provinces.
During the mission to Tierra del Fuego, the CAF delegation made up of Corporate Vice President for Strategic Programming Christian Asinelli, Chief Public Sector Executive Marisa Spina, and VCPE Chief Executive Ezequiel Galatro, participated in visits and follow-up meetings related to CAF-funded projects in the area of road infrastructure. They also held working meetings with local authorities.
During the first day of work in Ushuaia (Tierra del Fuego), the CAF delegation participated in the technical meeting of the following projects: “Wind Farms” and "Replacement of Power Generation Equipment, Ushuaia Park,” with Minister of Public Finance Federico Zapata and Minister of Public Works and Services Gabriela Castillo, from the Province of Tierra del Fuego, Antarctica and Islands of the South Atlantic.
After the meeting, the CAF delegation met with Governor Gustavo Melella and other provincial authorities at the government palace.
Likewise, as part of CAF’s commitment to the green agenda and renewable energies, the delegation toured the Rio Grande Generation Park and visited the Rio Grande Wind Farm, the chosen site for the development of generation of renewable energies.
To conclude the visit to the province of Tierra del Fuego, CAF representatives toured, together with Mayor Walter Vuoto, the Project for the Enhancement of Public Space in the City of Ushuaia, as part of the “Municipal Infrastructure Development Program Stage I,” carried out in agreement with the Ministry of Public Works of the Nation.
Furthermore, the CAF delegation—made up of Christian Asinelli, Santiago Rojas, Representative in Argentina, and Ezequiel Galatro—visited the province of Neuquén to tour CAF-funded works and to learn from the local authorities about the Project to promote the “Thermal Power Development in the Province of Neuquén.”
The first activity in the province was a meeting with Neuquén Governor Omar Gutiérrez at the Government House, who said: “Specifically, we worked on the Program to Improve Territorial Road Connectivity to prioritize our routes through corridors; and the program to consolidate the development of the thermal power activity in the province. Teamwork will foster the projects and the results of the vision embodied in the Five-Year Plan”.
After the meeting at Casa de Gobierno, the CAF delegation toured Work No. 67 with CFA 11459 financing, under the Program for the Improvement of Territorial Road Connectivity in Neuquén. During the visit, they were accompanied by Neuquén Tourism Minister Sandro Badilla and the President of the Provincial Unit for Liaison and Execution of Projects with External Financing (UPEFE), Jorge Ferrería.
The activities in Neuquén ended with the presentation of a financing proposal to the CAF delegation for the “Thermal Power Development Program in the Province of Neuquén” for the Secretary General of the province, Leonel Dacharry and Jorge Luis Ferrería.
The missions to the provinces of Tierra del Fuego and Neuquén ratify CAF’s commitment to the development of high-quality infrastructure and boosting productivity as development drivers, and the green agenda, strategically advancing non-conventional renewable energy projects, which have a positive impact on the environment by reducing dependence on fossil fuels.
