The bank is in the process of signing a memorandum of understanding with Cinemateca and will support the rest of the activities planned for the celebration.
With the aim of providing continued support to local culture, CAF—development bank of Latin America—joined in Cinemateca Uruguaya’s 70th anniversary celebration held at the complex in Ciudad Vieja.
CAF’s participation is the result of talks between the two institutions—who share the same building in Montevideo—to continue developing joint actions in pursuit of cultural development.
The event included an awards ceremony, a screening of the film “El empleado y el patrón” and a post-event party featuring DJ Santacreu Juan, in addition to a classic birthday cake, and the projecting of seventy memorable scenes from seventy different films.
Francois Borit, CAF representative in Uruguay, said that “this is an alliance that aims to set a clear roadmap for interaction with this prestigious institution’s cultural agenda, which rounds out the Secretary General’s objective through Culture and Sport by establishing relationships with local cultural and sports agendas.”
In this sense, we are planning activities that contribute to the integration and creation of value through culture. In this regard, we are preparing to sign a memorandum of understanding to put the seal on this participation, which includes the inaugural celebration, a book and film fair to be held in September and October, and a video mapping night in November, in addition to supporting Cinemateca Uruguaya with 25 activities for the 70th anniversary program.
