Sharing the success story of the APP as a financing alternative and the CAF-AM funds

Within the CLXXV CAF Directory, the CAF-AM Conversation was held: Aspirations and challenges of Latin America and the Caribbean in Public-Private Partnerships. It was moderated by Jorge Arbache, Vice President of the Private Sector of CAF-Development Bank of Latin America, and had the participation of the directors and senior management of CAF, and also the Minister of Economy of Colombia, José Manuel Restrepo, among those present.

Patricia Pella closed the round of presentations, commenting that the emphasis of PPP infrastructure projects should not be on infrastructure as materials, but should be on services, that is, how to facilitate and improve the quality of life of the beneficiaries from reduction of transportation times to work, studies or recreation. At the same time, he indicated “The projects must be prioritized according to the goals of each country, since these are realities according to the needs to improve competitiveness, productivity, and social development, thus evaluating whether the PPP mechanism works for this type of scheme".

Christian Knudsen, general manager of CAF-AM, gave the corporate presentation and expansion plans 2021-2030 and their figures so far. Alvaro Manotas, president. Ashmore CAF-AM and Fabián Ibarburu, general manager of CAF-AM Uruguay, shared the success stories in their different countries.
