September 30, 2022

The initiative is part of the program developed by the bank together with the Organization of Ibero-American States for Education, Science and Culture (OEI) to help improve and modernize the management of public educational administrations

With the purpose of promoting the technological modernization and management of public education administrations, CAF—development bank of Latin America—and the National Administration of Public Education (ANEP) signed a letter of intent as part of the “Program for the Strengthening of the Digital Transformation of Public Educational Administrations,” which CAF’s Social and Human Development Department develops in three countries together with the Organization of Ibero-American States for Education, Science and Culture (OEI).

The lines of action of this program focus on the diagnosis of digital transformation in public educational administrations, the definition of a recommended roadmap and the main areas of intervention, the design of specific improvement activities for each identified issued and the implementation of training and institutional strengthening plan that contributes to the sustainability of the digital transformation plan.

By signing this agreement, CAF pledges to advance in the objectives proposed in the program and to design a specific plan for Uruguay that includes the validation of the work methodology and technological tools in use, recommendations for improvements in data management and protection, cybersecurity and growth policies, as well as an analysis of the ecosystem and governance of systems and data.

The meeting was attended by the CAF Office representative in Uruguay François Michel Borit, ANEP president Robert Silva; and the Permanent Representative of the OEI Office in Uruguay, Macarena Llauradó.

Regarding the signing of the agreement, Borit welcomed the joint work that the institutions are carrying out and acknowledged the importance of joining forces to obtain better results. “We are drawing up a roadmap to jointly promote the support, modernization and improvement of management of public education administrations,” he said.

For his part, ANEP’s president highlighted the long history of cooperation between both institutions and noted that addressing this issue is vital for the organization. “Educational systems need to advance in these issues and find partners that help us enrich ourselves, transform ourselves, and find solutions to problems that are not always solved; thus, it is of the utmost importance,” concluded Silva.
