CAF Offers Immediate Support to Landslide Victims in Las Tejerías, Venezuela

CAF—development bank of Latin America—will make a USD 250,000 donation to Venezuela to help address the emergency caused by the landslide in Las Tejerías, which has caused significant human losses, thousands of victims and considerable material damage in the country.
Through a letter addressed to the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, the executive president of CAF—development bank of Latin America—, Sergio Díaz-Granados, expressed CAF’s solidarity with the victims of the landslide caused by the heavy rains in Las Tejerías, a town in the state of Aragua, and communicated the delivery of an immediate USD 250,000 donation to the country, for humanitarian aid and the reconstruction of the affected infrastructure.
“I wish to express our solidarity with the people of Venezuela in the face of the devastating effects of the landslide in Las Tejerías, which has caused significant human losses and substantial material damage. Given this situation, CAF offers its support emergency humanitarian aid efforts,” said Sergio Díaz-Granados.
In the letter, CAF’s executive president also expressed appreciation for the actions taken by the national government to support the victims, as well as for the people’s fortitude and the collective actions of society to address this situation.
With this contribution, CAF hopes to aid efforts required by the emergency, and reiterates its commitment to the well-being of the residents of its shareholder countries.
