November 25, 2022
In order to help enhance educational quality in Panama, volunteers from CAF—development bank of Latin America—and the Terpel Panama Foundation joined forces to renovate part of the infrastructure of the Republica de Colombia school in the area of Paraíso in the San Miguelito district, to support the initiative of the Association of Diplomatic Ladies of Panama.
The event was attended by teachers, administrative staff, students, members of the diplomatic corps accredited in Panama, and the company Terpel, and aimed at promoting the development of educational spaces to positively transform the student environment, as part of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Lucía Meza, representative of CAF—development bank of Latin America—in Panama, explained that there is nothing more satisfactory and inspiring than contributing to sustainability. Any contribution, no matter how small, will always yield a great reward. Meza explained that one of sectors that has received most support from CAF in its 25-year history in the country is education, through financing and technical assistance for school infrastructure, teacher training, updating of curricula and the qualifications framework, support for technical and university training and labor skills.
During the event, the “Aventura de Letras” library was inaugurated as part of CAF’s action strategy in Panama, to support greater social and territorial cohesion in the country, which guarantees its sustainability, in partnership with government agencies, private companies and international cooperation.
