July 18, 2024
The credit line is aimed at financing green and sustainable projects, supporting MSMEs, social housing and energy efficiency.
The Board of Directors of CAF, Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean, approved a revolving credit line for up to US$150 million in favor of Banco Santander Chile. The facility aims to support the financing of green and sustainable projects in various forms, and includes support for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises that make up global value chains; mortgage loans for social and environmentally sustainable housing; and energy efficiency, green business and cogeneration projects.
In addition, the funds may be used to subscribe or purchase green, social or sustainable bonds issued by Banco Santander Chile, which will help mobilize additional funds for this type of ESG financing.
“This line of credit to Banco Santander Chile reaffirms our commitment to sustainable development in the region. By facilitating access to financing for green projects and support for MSMEs in Chile, we are directly contributing to inclusive economic growth and the transition to a low-carbon economy that the country is promoting,” said CAF Executive President Sergio Diaz-Granados.
This operation strengthens the relationship between CAF and Banco Santander Chile, which began in 2015, and demonstrates the continued commitment of both institutions to sustainable development and financial inclusion in Chile.
