New technologies influence public management, the promotion of sustainable development, and the development of new leaderships in Latin America

In order to actively participate in the development of new leaderships the region, CAF, Development Bank of Latin America, supported by the Ministry of Social Development, organized the I Meeting of Young National Leaders in Santiago, Chile, to coordinate the different efforts and actions that take place in each member country.
"Christian Asinelly, CAF's Director of Institutional Development, stated, "We are developing these types of spaces to generate links through effective meetings and dialogues for the development of leaders in Latin America. The idea is that after this meeting, a networking will be created to help establish working relations".
The panel that analyzed the challenges in Chile in the XXI century included Rocio Montes, Journalist from Catholic University and writer in the Caras magazine; Tito Flores Caceres, PhD in Governance and Chief of Staff of the Universidad Tecnologica Metropolitana; Pablo Matamoros, philosopher, with a Master's degree in politics and expert on new information and communications technologies, and Marco Zuñiga, Director of Microsoft's Corporate Citizenship. Eugenio Ravinet, advisor to CAF's Executive Presidency, acted as moderator.
Pablo Matamoros, expert on new information and communications technologies, stated that there is a need to think about the digital citizen and how the new communications media impacts on the development of leaderships in the region.
For Marco Zuñiga, Microsoft's Director of Corporate Citizenship, young people have the power to lead the transform society with technological proposals that include the four megatrends: mobility, big data, networks, and the cloud.
Twenty Chilean youths from the political, economic, social, and cultural sectors participated in the event, debating about the prospects and challenges in the region, and how the new technologies influence institutional quality and the promotion of sustainable development.
The meeting was inaugurated by Alvaro Elizalde, Minister Secretary General of the Government, and Juan Eduardo Faundez, Undersecretary for Social Services . The Minister pointed out, "This meeting is framed in an opportune socio-historical moment for the country, where the youngest generations have the challenge of leading the changes required by society".
Thus, CAF continues to participate in the development of new leaderships in the region through a shared agenda with topics of mutual interest, to contribute to coordinate the different efforts and actions that are being developed in each member country.
