The CAF and the IDEA Foundation are making a joint effort to promote a Leader Training Program.

CAF Executive President Enrique García and IDEA Executive Director Carlos Iturralde signed an agreement for the execution of the first phase of the Leadership for Transformation Program.

The purpose of the program is to train leaders with vision of country and democratic values capable of transforming the political, social and economic situation in Bolivia. The CAF contribution totals $42,500. The first phase of the program consists of selecting the potential leaders, and the second relates to the definition of the content of the leader training program.

CAF Executive President García said that the operation is part of the Corporation´s efforts to strengthen governance and democratic institutions in the Andean countries.

In this stage, 490 urban, peri-urban and rural leaders will be identified. In the second phase of execution, their leadership skills and abilities will be developed under three programmatic bases: individual, collective and public, based on the principles of interculturality, social equity, gender equity and environmental conservation.

The training will take place in modules to be developed sequentially in large and intermediate-size cities on weekends over ten months.

With this program, the CAF and IDEA unite their efforts to respond to the need for leaders capable of building a vision of country with identity, guided by ethical and democratic values, with solutions for the new challenges of adapting the State, its authorities, the market and civil society.
