(La Paz, July 20, 2007).- To provide incentives, promote and give wide publicity to the cultural activities of the country, the representation of the Andean Development Corporation in Bolivia opened the new "Artespacio CAF" Art Gallery. This initiative is part of the multilateral institution’s support for the culture of Andean countries, particularly Bolivia.

ArtespacioCAF opened its doors with the "Alfredo La Placa Retropective" of the works of one of Bolivia’s most important 20th century painters. The show presents the best of the artist’s work to start the activities of the art gallery in the Corporation's new building.

"The creation of a space for Bolivian art is an initiative that reaffirms the stimulus that the institution gives to culture as the basis for developing human capital through dissemination of Bolivia’s cultural values," CAF President & CEO Enrique Garcia said.

Culture as a creative expression of peoples is part of the CAF mission which considers its support for artistic expression as a contribution to the process of sustainable human development in its partner countries.

Artespacio CAF is advised by a Consultative Council formed by the prestigious artists Cecilia Lampo, Gonzalo Rodríguez and Alfredo La Placa, who select the artists who will exhibit their works in the new gallery.
