CAF—development bank of Latin America—, in partnership with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Arequipa and Transforme Consultores, held Innovation Week 2019 (with a focus on the mining sector) on May 6-10. Arequipa’s mining companies received a 5-day training in innovation issues through the transfer of tools, experiences and courses on innovation, processes, technology and personalized advice.
The workshop was the seventh regional edition developed under the Business Innovation Support Program.
“He who innovates, starts off losing... he who does NOT, ends up losing,” said Guillermo Beuchat, managing partner at Transforme Consultores, explaining the importance of innovating in companies. “Today, it is not an option, but an imperative for survival. We cannot think that innovation will happen spontaneously: you have to invest resources, “intervene” the company and push to make it happen,” he added.
In addition, Juan Carlos Elorza, head of the Directorate of Private Sector Analysis and Technical Evaluation at CAF, noted the need to define and support actions aimed at strengthening Research, Development and Innovation (RDI) capabilities of companies to boost regional productivity and competitiveness and contribute to their productive transformation.
To continue support to Peruvian companies, Innovation Week for the agro-industrial sector will be held in Trujillo in June; for more information and sign-up, click here.
