Bidding process is now open for Phase 1 of Integrated Public Transport system in Piura, Peru

April 24 is the deadline for submitting Expressions of Interest from companies interested in conducting the study for the Integrated Public Transport System of Piura, Peru

March 26, 2019

CAF-development bank of Latin America- is starting the international public tender process for the pre-investment profile study for Phase 1 of the integrated public transport system of Piura in Peru. Interested companies may find more information as well as the rules and requirements to submit their Proposals in the website of the request for proposals.

The services contemplated for this call include the development of the profile level pre-investment study for phase 1 of the Piura Integrated Transport System in Peru, and its infrastructural, technical-operational, institutional, legal, social and environmental components, with a sustainable mobility approach.

CAF, as executing agency, and KfW, as a leading financial institution, submitted in 2014 the “Public Urban Transportation Improvement Program" to LAIF (Latin American Investment Facility) of the European Union, represented by the European Commission, which approved the request for a series of actions in Latin America, including the Piura study. Thus, funding for this study will come from LAIF and will be channeled through KfW.

LAIF’s “Urban Public Transport Improvement Program” seeks to facilitate and improve planning, design, and public investments in urban mass transport systems in order to help meet the growing demand for infrastructure in the main urban areas of Latin America, through clean technologies and energy efficiency. The Piura study is expected to help improve Peru’s competitiveness and economic development, quality of life of the beneficiary population, reduce the transaction cost of mobilization of the population in the investment area, improving urban transport infrastructure, and to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
