Bolivia: Over US$400,000 for execution of 10 projects

1. Beneficiary: Ministry of Services and Public Works

Project name: Institutional Strengthening Ministry of Services and Public Works.

Purpose: Equip the Ministry with technical, administrative, strategic and operating instruments in the framework of the National Planning System, the Basic Standards of the System of Administrative Organization, and the Bolivian Personnel Administration System.

2. Beneficiary: Senate Sustainable Development and Environment Committee.

Project name: Institutional Strengthening of the Sustainable Development and Environment Committee.

Purpose: Provide institutional strengthening mechanisms and instruments, and technical assistance for methodologies and tools of environmental management and inspection under Law No. 1333.

3. Beneficiary: Vice Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Exports / Ministry of Economic Development.

Project name: Bolivian participation in the Aichi International Fair Japan 2005.

Purpose: Facilitate Bolivian participation in World Expo Aichi-Japan 2005, exhibiting Bolivia’s cultural, technological and folkloric diversity in an effort to strengthen the country's image and Bolivian manufactures.

4. Beneficiary: Ministry of Finance / Vice Ministry of Pensions and Financial Services.

Project name: Education Insurance, Health Insurance, Agro Insurance and INDEX Program

Purpose: For the Education and Health Insurance program, strengthen and develop the intellectual capacities of children through education based on high levels of attendance, development and school performance; reduce possibilities of biological or food deficiencies in children, and guarantee education and health when the parent or guardian dies.

5. Beneficiary: Ministry of Services and Public Works.

Project name: Financial and Legal Study of Turnkey Contracts for Road Projects in Bolivia.

Purpose: Determine if the risk distribution associated with these contracts justifies the price difference, and determine the conditions needed to make them equivalent or better for the State; propose a financial structure to support the viability of the projects; review the legal and caselaw justification for the contracts.

6. Beneficiary: Ministry of Finance – Vice Ministry of Budget and Accounting

Project name: Program for Design and Preparation of Regulations for Adjustment to the Government Administration and Control System.

Purpose: Technical Cooperation to assist the Bolivian government in improving the quality and transparency of public expenditure, based on evaluation and adjustment of the Government Administration Systems. Government priorities include improving the administration and transparency of public management, based on better distribution and quality of public expenditure for the fight against poverty, considering increased decentralization of State functions in a framework of economic stability.

7. Beneficiary: Ministry of Economic Development.

Project name: South East Development Pole.

Purpose: Support the implementation of industrial complexes in the Germán Busch province, with intensive use of capital resources and developed structure, which generate production, export, jobs and add value to the raw material. Analyze the impact of the industrial development to take place in the Germán Busch special economic area, particularly mining and natural gas operations. Support the bidding process for private participation in the Mutún Mining Steel Project.

8. Beneficiary: Ministry of Health and Sports.

Project name: Guidelines for Prevention and Litigation of Risks in Investment Projects in the Health Sector.

Purpose: Strengthen the technical and methodological criteria and procedures for prevention and litigation emerging from the analysis of vulnerability, natural and anthropic threats, risk factors and other specific aspects of the implementation areas of the projects, with a view to guaranteeing their application in the implementation stages of the projects, thus guaranteeing the quality of the follow-up, inspection and evaluation processes by the institution of the sector.

9. Beneficiary: Bolivian Embassy in Colombia.

Project name: XV International Agricultural and Related Industries Fair AGROEXPORT 2005.

Purpose: Increase the presence of business representatives at the fair through the organization and installation of the Bolivian pavilion.

10. Beneficiary: Bolivian Consulate in Chile.

Project name: Project Bolivia in Santiago.

Purpose: Promote and disseminate the image of Bolivia in Santiago and promote a variety of cultural expressions through a cultural and academic program.
