(Quito, February 18, 2011).- With the participation of the President & CEO Enrique Garcia of CAF - Latin American development bank - the publication "Social policies to promote citizenship and social cohesion" will be launched as one of the actions the institution is taking to promote reflection on key issues for development of the region and creation of spaces for exchange of information, experiences and knowledge.

The publication resumes the discussion on building consensus for a social pact on the sustainable financing of social policies, with a view to improving distributional equality.

The topics covered include: coherence of State policy and its capacity to incorporate considerations related to poverty and inequality in economic policy decisions; targeting as an instrument for universal access to services and not as a substitute for it; institutional reforms needed for implementing a policy to increase social cohesion and requirements for a new government architecture, which guarantees integration and coordination of all social policies; among others.

The event will be held at the Eugenio Espejo Convention Center at 10.00 AM with the presence of government and local authorities, and special guests.
