The deep-dive meeting was organized by the CAF Vice Finance Presidency’s Directorate of Institutional Financial Resources, and was attended by the bank’s Representation Offices, as well as representatives of an array of relevant sectors, including Climate Change, Energy, Water and Sanitation, State Digitization, the Amazon, among others. The AFD delegation was led by Bruno Leclerc, director for Latin America, and included the heads of the Andean region, Brazil, the Southern Cone, Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean.
During the meeting, the two institutions had specific exchanges on their common global and Latin American agenda, in an effort to maximize the impact of interventions, with an emphasis on combating climate change.
Leclerc said that the meeting allowed them to set clear goals for cooperation, such as bolstering co-financing, improving joint efforts on specific issues such as the Amazonia and Water and Sanitation, advancing the various financing schemes such as credit lines and technical assistance, and consolidating cooperation under IDFC.
CAF Finance Vice President Gabriel Felpeto deemed the deep dive successful, as it allowed them to establish specific lines of action, which are set to have a greater impact on development and strengthen CAF’s relationship with AFD.
Thus, CAF and AFD reaffirmed their commitment to the region’s sustainable development and climate change agenda.
