CAF will reach 35% green financing in 2024

The State company will receive a non-reimbursable technical assistance of up to USD 600,000 that will be allocated to contract studies that enable to determine the most convenient alternative to ensure the supply of potable water in the metropolitan system

CAF, Development Bank of Latin America, signed a non-reimbursable technical assistance agreement with Obras Sanitarias del Estado (OSE) (State Sanitary Works) for up to USD 600,000, which will enable the entity to contract studies to establish the best alternative to ensure the correct supply of potable water in the metropolitan system.
Gladis Genua, CAF's Director Representative in Uruguay, stated, "By granting this technical cooperation, we reaffirm our support to the potable water and sanitation sector in Uruguay. The objective is to provide Montevideo and the metropolitan area with the conditions that are necessary to cover the demand for potable water in the long term, with adequate health standards".
At the same time, Milton Machado, President of OSE, indicated that the signature of this agreement is framed within the priority of the company and the Executive Power to solve the problems that stem from the "environmental pressure" that currently demands an update of the infrastructure and the "processes to mke it potable".
In this respect, the President of OSE stated that the agreement signed with CAF will enable the completion of the stages that come before the design of "a project that may be tendered and built to continue ensuring the quality conditions to which all Uruguayans are used to".
Research works will have a total cost of USD 750,000, and will cover the Montevideo metropolitan system that supplies water to close to 1,750,000 people in the capital, Canelones, Ciudad de la Costa, La Paz, Las Piedras, Progreso and neighboring areas.
