In association with Right to Play and the Special Olympics, the SOMOS network, an initiative of CAF -development bank of Latin America- includes the participation of institutions that use and promote sports as a tool for comprehensive human development, as well as an effective mechanism for social risk prevention and more inclusiveness for children and youth in the region. The tournament includes several programs, activities and events.
On launching the Mundialito last December, CAF country representative in Bolivia Emilio Uquillas noted that the institution considers sports a key factor in human development, saying its promotion is vital to encourage the quest for excellence in the bank's shareholder nations.
"We are happy to have supported the training of more than 3,000 young athletes -women and men- at the Tahuichi Academy, and we count on them to become better men and women, not necessarily in soccer, but better Bolivians," Mr. Uquillas said.
For his part, Tahuichi Academy president Rolando Aguilera thanked the athletes, sponsors and friends for supporting his father and academy founder's dream, helping keep it alive, "so the ball keeps rolling in the soccer field and we bring together more than 3,500 players from all over the world in the 2013 Mundialito."
