CAF allocates USD 2,740 MM for the region´s sustainable development

The Board of Directors of CAF - development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean approved a USD 100 million loan to partially finance the Province of Neuquén's Balanced and Territorial Development Program in Argentina.
This program, with a total cost of USD 125 million, aims to promote balanced territorial development, benefiting approximately 730,000 people by increasing access to and improving basic services to face climate challenges and strengthening road connectivity to boost trade.
The program will expand the capacity of three water treatment plants, build a wastewater treatment plant, and pave more than 50 kilometers of provincial roads. These projects, in line with the Regionalization Plan promoted by the Province, will benefit over 40 localities and boost tourism and creative economies, which are crucial sources of income in Neuquén.
Sergio Díaz-Granados, CAF's executive president, said: "This program represents an important step towards more equitable and sustainable development in the province of Neuquén. Through strategic investments in infrastructure and institutional strengthening, we are supporting the province in its transition to a more diversified and resilient economy".
The main components of the program include the implementation of a new planning and governance model, habitat improvements, access to drinking water, wastewater pretreatment, and strengthening road connectivity. It also includes capacity building, development of regional value chains, and diagnostics of productive chains.
