(Buenos Aires, November 8, 2010).- As part of the actions taken by CAF - Latin American development bank - in solidarity with the Republic of Haiti following the earthquake of January this year, the institution announced delivery of non-reimbursable funds to the Valdocco Foundation for the Project for Care of Children and Young People in Haiti.

The president & CEO of the multilateral financial institution, Enrique García, said "the funds are part of CAF’s response to expressions of solidarity and commitment by the governments of the region to Haiti, represented by their presidents at the Summit for Latin the Unity of America and the Caribbean."

The Valdocco Project aims to contribute to the development of children and young people in Haiti by providing support for food and services, basically education and health, to create better living conditions and, through training, generate new opportunities to expand their future. Specifically the program will set up an Occupational Training Center, open a Food Center and start up a health clinic, among other humanitarian assistance activities for the population.

Execution of the project will create strategies and replicable collaboration mechanisms which will be an example for development of future projects, not only in Haiti but also in similar vulnerable areas. All these actions will contribute to the social inclusion of young people and their families, and facilitate the introduction of international community organizations which contribute to the development of recovery mechanisms and the organization of the population.
