CAF promotes development of productive rural roads in Argentina with USD 100 million

The Board of Directors of CAF—development bank of Latin America—approved a USD 100 million loan for Argentina, with the purpose of financing the Federal Road Infrastructure Program for Economic, Social and Productive Development, in an effort to foster the consolidation of productive rural roads and thus improve the connectivity of the national road system and boost regional economies.

The Federal Road Infrastructure Program for Economic, Social and Productive Development implemented by Argentina’s Ministry of Public Works aims to expand and improve accessibility to production centers, educational and healthcare establishments, help improve road safety, and promote the development of regional economies. The projects include the paving of Provincial Routes No. 13 (16.85 km), No. 20 (28.13 km), and No. 27 (55.18 km) in the province of Chaco, in northern Argentina, thus improving the days of passability of roads and favor the flow of cargo vehicles for the transport of local production.

“We are committed to the sustainable development of Argentina and to boosting its competitiveness, this time with the improvement of vital trade, logistics and connectivity routes for the benefit of all. Productive rural roads are a priority at CAF, as a way to boost the nation’s federal connectivity,” said CAF executive president Sergio Díaz-Granados.

The Program is expected to benefit directly at least 1.2 million residents in the areas of influence where the road works are developed.
