CAF - Development bank of Latin America and the Caribbean - approved USD 1.45 billion to finance strategic projects in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, El Salvador and Honduras, ranging from the construction of aqueducts and port works to improvements in urban mobility, educational systems, the security of migratory flows and the competitiveness of business ecosystems.

“CAF's growing capacity to mobilize financial resources in key development areas allows us to help millions of citizens directly benefit and to drive more dynamic, resilient, and inclusive economies. The countries of the region have an unconditional and increasingly solid ally in our institution to carry out their development plans, both from a knowledge and financing perspective,” said Sergio Díaz-Granados, CAF's Executive President.

In a ceremony presided over by the President of the Republic of Chile, Gabriel Boric; the Executive President of CAF, Sergio Díaz-Granados; and the Mayor of Vitacura, Camila Merino, the agreement to establish the organization's new building in Santiago was formalized.

President Gabriel Boric emphasized that "integration must translate into concrete improvements in the quality of life of our people," which is why "the establishment of an official CAF headquarters in Chile, which, with the creation of this building shared with the Municipality of Vitacura, also symbolizes the strength of our alliance, and represents the shared commitment to a more united, resilient, and prosperous region in the face of the challenges we face today in the world."

For his part, Díaz-Granados stated: "This building will not only strengthen our presence in the region but will also house a hub for innovation and entrepreneurship with public and private cooperation. It's encouraging to see how spaces are opening up to foster talent and support SMEs in their growth."

The project integrates sustainability principles by dedicating 80% of the land to green areas that connect with Bicentennial Park, respecting the terrain's morphology and the urban environment. With a walkable green roof and public spaces such as a gallery, auditorium, and café, this multifunctional hub represents a milestone that will strengthen commercial and financial relations in the region, in addition to offering solutions to the urban challenges of Latin America and the Caribbean.

Within the framework of the board meeting, CAF presented its commemorative RED report, announced a new agricultural prosperity strategy, launched the CAF 2024 Transparency Report, and shared a new strategic security framework for Latin America and the Caribbean. It also organized a series of activities in Chile, including agreements with the Government of Aysén and OLADE to promote environmental protection.

CAF also deepened its ties with the private sector and civil society through agreements with the Financial Market Commission, Holding Bursátil Regional S.A., Teatro del Lago, and Centro Cultural La Moneda. These agreements represent CAF's multidimensional approach to sustainable development, which ranges from financial innovation to cultural promotion.
