The day of dialogue between development banks and the private sector was organized by the Organization of Ibero-American States (OEI) and the Undersecretariat of International Financial Relations for Development, under the Ministry of Strategic Affairs of the Presidency of the Nation, and also had the support of the Argentine Agency for Investment and International Trade under the Argentine Foreign Ministry.

During the meeting, Sergio Díaz-Granados proposed to continue working on the relationship between the organization and Argentina: “CAF has the challenge of consolidating its position in the region and reaching fields not yet present, so this relationship will grow with both the government and the private sector.” Additionally, CAF’s Executive President highlighted the consensus built with its Corporate Vice President of Strategic Programming, Christian Asinelli, to progress in a new management of the organization focused on solving the specific problems of member countries.

In turn, the Minister of Economy of the Argentine Nation, Martín Guzmán, expressed his desire via virtual conference call “that Argentina and CAF work hard to progress in concrete projects that will do much good for our country and the region.”

“Any project that has the capacity to generate work, add value or generate foreign exchange in Argentina is welcome. We look forward to working together with you and your Vice President so that the relationship with CAF allows us to enhance, and take advantage of, regional strategic complementarities throughout the continent, many of them based on infrastructure,” the minister added.

Speaking from Washington DC,

the Secretary General of the OEI, Mariano Jabonero, thanked all those present at the meeting for their presence and commitment, and highlighted the alliance that is being built for the development of technological projects linked to the knowledge economy.

In addition, the director of OEI Argentina, Luis Scasso, highlighted the growing collaboration and dialogue between CAF and the OEI through the President and Secretary General, and pointed out “the growing challenge in the region of articulating education and the demands of the world of work, paying particular attention to vocational training, since at present many young Ibero-Americans do not complete their secondary education”.

The dialogue was moderated by the director of Celulosa Argentina and member of the Advisory Board of the Interdisciplinary Institute of Political Economy (IIEYP), José Urtubey, and was attended by businessmen and trade unionists from the agro-industrial, biotechnology, technology, automotive, construction, transport, textile, media, financial, insurance and hotel sectors.
