CAF reiterates its support to modernization of the State in Paraguay

The executive president of CAF, Luis Carranza, met with the President of Paraguay, Mario Abdo Benitez, and signed a declaration of intent with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Luis Alberto Castiglioni, to promote institutional strengthening and replicate the best practices of the region in project planning, structuring and execution in Paraguay. During the first day of his official visit, Carranza also met with the Minister of Public Works and Communications, Arnoldo Wiens.

The first day of the official visit of CAF executive presidentLuis Carranza to Paraguay included a protocol meeting with the President of Paraguay, Mario Abdo Benitez, in which they worked on the definition of initiatives of mutual interest in areas where CAF’s support may have a major impact on the well-being of Paraguayans and an increase in the nation’s productivity.

With the purpose of promoting the modernization of the State, one of the priorities defined in the current Government Plan of the current Paraguayan administration, CAF executive president signed a declaration of intent with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Luis Alberto Castiglioni , to support the implementation of a cooperation program for institutional strengthening of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and in other strategic areas such as: integration logistics corridors and public-private partnerships.

Upon signing the memorandum, president Carranza highlighted: “Institutional strengthening is essential to improve project planning, structuring and execution capabilities. In this regard, we want to contribute with our experience and technical capacity, by exploring successful experiences of other countries and adapting them to Paraguay’s reality.”

Finally, the executive president held a meeting with the Minister of Public Works and Communications, Arnoldo Wiens.

President Carranza’s agenda for the second day included the signing of a joint declaration with the Minister of Finance, Benigno López, and meetings with the President of the Central Bank of Paraguay, José Cantero, and the president of the National Electricity Administration (ANDE), Pedro Ferreira, and private sector representatives.
