  • Agreements were signed with Sciences Po and the National Forests Office (ONF) international branch

November 04, 2010

(Paris, November 4, 2010). Enrique García, president & CEO of the Latin American development bank, signed two agreements in Paris on training, study and research for the economic and social development of Latin America, along with management and sustainable use of natural resources. The agreements were signed with Richard Descoings, director of the Paris Institute of Political Studies (Sciences Po), and with Martin Perrier, director of the National Forests Office (international branch), in the presence of honor of Jacques Valeix, ONF director general.

After the signing García said "the agreements signed today have a special meaning for CAF because they reflect the dynamism that relations with France have achieved and the mutual and growing interest in working in key areas for sustainable development and the integration of Latin America."

CAF and France have been co-financing major projects in the region and expect – in the short-term – to strengthen their joint efforts in the financial area, and in the cooperation, intellectual, academic and cultural fields. "France is a strategic partner in CAF’s international projection," Garcia added.

In addition to these two important signings, the CAF president gave a keynote address at Sciences Po; participated as special guest at a roundtable organized by the Institute of the Americas, with the attendance of high-level officials, members of the diplomatic corps, business leaders, academics and journalists in the prestigious Maison de L'Amérique Latine. He also held meetings in the ministries of Finance and Foreign Affairs and the French Development Agency (AFD).
