(Argentina, Apr. 5, 2013).- Enrique García, president of CAF -development bank of Latin America- announced the approval of an immediate US$50,000 donation in support of relief efforts for the victims of recent torrential rains in Argentina. The bank also opened a contingent credit line for up to US$100 million intended to address infrastructure damage in areas hit by the rains.

"On behalf of CAF and in my own name I wish to express our solidarity to you and, through you, to the Argentine people," said García in a letter addressed to President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner.

"The credit line was created to support the region, given the growing number of natural disasters in Latin America and the Caribbean, with social, environmental and economic consequences that have had a severe impact on several countries in the region," García said.
