CAF's President visits Cuba and meets with top governmental and academic authorities

On official visit, Enrique Garcia attended the first international seminar "Opportunities and challenges for the economic development of Latin America", organized by CAF and the Universidad de La Habana. Garcia signed an agreement with the Universidad de La Habana, participated in a round table with university students, and held bilateral meetings with top governmental authorities

Garcia's agenda included bilateral meetings with the Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, Rodrigo Malmierca; the Minister of Finance and Prices, Lina Pedraza; the President of the Central Bank of Cuba, Ernesto Medina, and the Vice Minister of Foreign Relations, Abelardo Moreno, to exchange points of view regarding CAF's evolution, its Latin American dimension, as well as the challenges of regional integration. 

Also in the framework of his visit, Garcia signed a  with Gustavo Cobreiro Suarez, President of the Universidad de La Habana, to work in the generation of knowledge and to promote training, study and applied research to benefit sustainable development and integration in Latin America. 

At the same time, CAF's Executive President participated in a round table with students of the Universidad de La Habana. He expressed, "I am sure that this meeting has enabled the promotion of an intense and profound exchange of ideas regarding the main challenges faced by young Cubans in the present and in the future, to ensure sustainable growth, social inclusion, and the development of the region". 

Garcia ratified the financial institution's willingness and interest in opening spaces for a comprehensive relationship between CAF and Cuba, hoping to build strong working relationships and joint cooperation in the current regional and global context.
