June 21, 1995

(Caracas, June 21, 1995).-- Last June 5, during the commemoration of its 25th anniversary, CAF inaugurated its new Art Gallery with the "Andean painting" exhibition which is an important sample of the pictorial art of the five CAF member countries: Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela, with works of Fernando Botero, Jacobo Borges, Oswaldo Guayasamín, María Luisa Pacheco, Fernando de Szyszlo and Alejandro Otero, among many others. The exhibition is open to the public until the 25th of this month.

This modern new gallery is located in the CAF headquarters building in Caracas, with an excellent location on Avenue Luis Roche, Urb. Altamira. Opening times are Monday to Friday 9 AM to 12 noon and 3 PM to 6 PM; Saturdays and Sundays 11 AM to 5 PM. With this initiative CAF joins the efforts of other financial institutions in promoting cultural activities which extol the diverse expressions of the spirit and thought of nations.

The next exhibition in the CAF Gallery will highlight the well-known Bolivian sculptor Marina Núñez del Prado, whose work has been acclaimed around the world. The artist has exhibited on three occasions in the Fine Arts Museum of Caracas and in Maracaibo. Since an important group of her work is in the hands of private collectors, the Corporation, jointly with the Bolivian embassy in Venezuela and the Foundation which carries her name, are making an effort to borrow some important pieces for this exhibition, and call on their owners to lend them to the Gallery for a brief period, thus contributing to the cultural heritage of the Venezuelan people and the integration of the Andean nations.
