Colombia and Ecuador: neighbors and partners in sustainable development.

With CAF support, the Natura Regional Foundation and the OAS are implementing a project to promote dialogue between local actors in an effort to stimulate environmental and sustainable development initiatives on the Colombian-Ecuadorian border.

(Bogota, April 28, 2010).- The Natura Regional Foundation and the Organization of American States (OAS) with CAF support will hold on April 29 and 30 in the headquarters of the Agustín Codazzi Geographical Institute (Carrera 30 No. 48-51), Bogota, the Cross-Border Workshop Colombia and Ecuador: neighbors and partners in sustainable development.

The workshop is part of a project being implemented by the Natura Regional Foundation with CAF financing through the CAF Border Cooperation and Integration Fund (COPIF), one of whose objectives is to strengthen cross-border cooperation between Colombia and Ecuador on the environment by stimulating actions and joint building of a working agenda of sustainable development with civil society, local authorities and the productive sector.

During the two days of the workshop, representatives of the public and private sectors, the productive sector, international organizations and environmental experts will discuss key issues for promoting initiatives for dialogue and strengthening relations between Colombia and Ecuador, as part of their commitment to sustainable development, cross-border integration, and coexistence with indigenous peoples in the border area.

The participants in the workshop are Rosalía Arteaga, director of the Natura Regional Foundation; Juan Pablo Rodríguez, deputy director of the CAF vice presidency of Country Programs; Manuel Rodríguez Becerra, former environment minister, among others
