July 11, 2005

The Exporters Federation (FEDEXPOR) and the Andean Development Corporation (CAF) presented in Quito and Guayaquil the results of their study on “Commercial Opportunities for Ecuadorian Products in Peru.”

The study, which ended in December 2004, uses a set of tools to stimulate and strengthen bilateral trade between Peru and Ecuador. So far 98.5% of the tariff universe has been analyzed, involving over 6,400 products that benefit from the zero tariff.

Only a minimum number of products classified by both countries as sensitive to national industry remain subject to an annual percentage reduction established in the Tariff Reduction Program under Andean Community Decision 414, whose process ends December 31, 2005. These include dairy products, cooking oils and meat.
