Ecuador: Course on “Communication and International Relacions

The Andean Development Corporation (CAF), CIESPAL and FLACSO today initiated in Quito, a course on Communication and International Relacions. Participants may opt for four specialization courses on subjects related to International Relations. The opening paper was given by José Luis Ramírez, CAF Director of Secretariat and Corporate Communications.

CAF, CIESPAL and FLACSO begin course on Communication and International Relations.

  • The four-month postgraduate program has a team of international instructors.
  • The Andean Development Corporation, CAF, the International Center for Advanced Communication Studies (CIESPAL) and the Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences (FLACSO) initiated a course in Quito on Communication and International Relations. Participants in this multidisciplinary project may opt for four specialization courses on subjects related to International Relations.

    This postgraduate program will deal with some of the contemporary challenges in Latin America which go beyond communication, many of them resulting from the internationalization of common issues and social processes.

    The course will enrich participants´ knowledge, giving them a better understanding of the conditions in today’s world, so that they can deal adequately with issues related to International Relations, in favor of world understanding, solidarity and peace.

    This program is designed for communicators, journalists and professionals involved with Communication and the International Relations of the country, who wish to understand the dynamic of today’s world with a view to sharing this understanding with public opinion in the country. The set of four courses will refresh participants’ knowledge of the most important contemporary issues in international studies, especially the consequences of globalization and the new structure of the world order.

    The four-month program consists of four courses or modules: 1) International Relations and Universal Rules of Law; 2) Communication, Culture and Policy; 3) Globalization and Theory of International Relations; and 4) International Organization, Regimes and Interdependence. The program will be supplemented by four presentations on urgent economic issues and/or regional integration projects and programs.

    The staff of instructors is as follows: Alfonso Barrera Valverde (Ecuador); Octavio Islas (Mexico); Adrián Bonilla, (Ecuador); Mark A. Edelenyi (Ireland); Alexei Páez (Ecuador); Mauro Cerbino, (Italy); Rodrigo Pardo (Colombia); and José Luis Ramírez (Colombia).
