  • April 20, 2005

The Andean Development Corporation (CAF) with the Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences (FLACSO) and the Ecuadorian Central Bank will hold the Seminar Reflections on Resuming Growth. The event will take place in the Amphitheater of the new FLACSO building on April 20 at 08.30am with the presence of foreign and local economists. The seminar aims to promote dialogue among the public, private and academic sectors with the main objective of discussing development strategies in the national context.

At the meeting, CAF will make known the conclusions of its recent study “Reflections on Resuming Growth: Increased Participation in the Global Economy, Productive Transformation and Social Inclusion.” The study makes a series of recommendations in response to some of the questions raised.

CAF has begun a reflection process to identify elements that define an integrated proposal for resuming the growth of Latin American economies, with emphasis on the potential of increased participation in the global economy, mitigating the inherent risks and promoting the inclusion of all segments of society.

The book investigates actions that need to be taken to resume sustained high growth. The authors propose a renewed strategy based on increased and better presence in global trade and capital markets, and on a productive transformation that leads to increased productivity, supplemented by a strategy of social inclusion that improves the quality of life of the population in the short term, and relieves the high rates of poverty that oppress the region.
