There is a program underway for the expansion and improvement of the infrastructure of 30 national public universities in different provinces of Argentina, seeking to improve access and the quality of higher education.
In addition to the expansions and new works, work is being carried out in the valorization of existing buildings, with an important focus on the adaptation of spaces for science, technology, and innovation, improving the quality of instruction in laboratories, libraries, and research centers.
Close to 250 thousand students, one third coming from the country's lowest income sectors, will benefit from improvements in the infrastructure of 53 percent of the public universities that the program covers.
To date, works have finished in the universities of Lanus, Santiago del Estero, Formosa, Misiones, Tres de Febrero, Salta, Lujan and Rio Cuarto, among others. In addition, work continues in the universities of La Plata, General Sarmiento, Cuyo, UBA, Entre Rios and Jauretche.
The program, with a national scope, has obtained USD 35 million in financing from CAF, for the National University System.
