Eleven road projects that include: construction interventions, road infrastructure rehabilitation, construction of a food market, and additional civil works in several popular areas are a part of the Road Works Program in Densely Populated Areas of Guayaquil.
Among the benefits of these works are: the improvement of the service levels and reduction of vehicular congestion, the reduction of air pollution and improvement in health levels, the connection of neighborhoods with side roads in the city, and more road security.
The program is promoted by the Municipality of Guayaquil, and is part of the investment plan for the development of the city's road network.
The projects are developed in areas where the city's most vulnerable and lowest-income populations live, particularly, the North-East (Pascuales parrish), and South-East, and West (part of Tarqui, Febres Cordero, Latamendi, and Ximena).
It is expected that the inhabitants of these areas will have better access to their homes, commercial areas, work, public services, and urban environment communities.
CAF-Latin American Development Bank, specifically finances five of these projects in relation to civil works, environmental supervision and management plan, for a total amount of USD 45 million.
This project is framed within CAF's strategies, which support the efforts of regional governments in favor of its inhabitants, and in this specific case, to benefit the lower income populations.
