Enrique Garcia is recognized for his contribution to the comprehensive development of northern Argentina

Enrique García, Executive President of CAF, Development Bank of Latin America, received a medal from the province of Tucuman for his work heading the multilateral organization and his contribution to the comprehensive development of the north of Argentina. 

The recognition was carried out after the opening session of the "Encuentro por las Américas" (Meeting for the Americas) in Tucuman, a forum framed  in the celebration of Argentina's Bicentennial, which has become a space for reflection and exchange of ideas regarding the different development prospects for Latin America.

In front of 850 personalities from the academic, entrepreneurial, and political world who participated in the meeting organized by the Government with the support of CAF, Garcia stated, "For CAF it is essential to promote the creation of working spaces that enable a consensus regarding the long-term strategic visions in all the region". 

In his speech, García described the main challenges that Latin America faces to reduce inequalities and offer quality, equitable, and sustainable growth. He also highlighted that Argentina is a "large, rich, and diverse" country, and noted the Argentinean talent and human capital innovation, inviting participants to use this advantage. 

García stated, "We have had many years of volatility, and many citizens have been incorporated to the middle class, but there is also the need to make adjustments due to inflation and low commodity prices; this has been the constant of the XXI century, years of success and years of inflection, and I believe it is the right time to reflect on what areas can be improved". 

Juan Manzur, Governor of the northern province, thanked García for his participation and highlighted that the presence of CAF's highest authority in the event reaffirms the multilateral organization's commitment with development in Argentina, always aiming at the consolidation of the human capital. When granting the "Bicentennial Medal" to Garcia as a token of recognition to CAF's work in the region, Manzur said, "He may be one of the most important personalities to set foot on Tucuman in the framework of the Bicentennial celebration. It is an honor for Tucuman to have the leader of the multilateral organization visiting us".  

After receiving the medal, García stated, "It is a pleasure for me to visit Tucuman and, as a development institution committed with Argentina, and particularly with northern Argentina, I hope we can continue supporting initiatives to improve the infrastructure and the quality of life of the people".   

The Meeting for the Americas will integrate two days of debates in which different participants, most of them national and international academics, will exchange opinions regarding future political development scenarios foreseen for Latin America.
