Enrique Garcia visits China to promote effective cooperation and financing mechanisms for the region

In the framework of the V CAF-ILAS Conference, Enrique Garcia met with high authorities from the economic, financial, and academic sectors in the country

Enrique Garcia, Executive President of CAF, Development Bank of Latin America, went on a working visit to China, which included the organization of the V CAF-ILAS Conference that examined the challenges of citizen security and governance for China and Latin America, bringing together renowned academics and top economic and financial authorities from China and Latin America. The main objectives were to exchange ideas regarding the increasing relationships between the Asian country and Latin America, the interest to explore new mechanisms to promote a greater symmetry in trading relations, investments in sectors that are strategic for Latin American development, and technology transfers.  

During his visit, Enrique Garcia held meetings with Liu Liange, president of Exim Bank; Wang Yongsheng, Executive Vice President of the China Development Bank (CDB); Shi Yaobin, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Finance; and Zhang Yuqing, Deputy Administrator of the National Energy Administration of China, among other authorities. 

At the same time, CAF's Executive President met with academic authorities such as the Director of the Emerging Markets Institute (EMI) of the Beijing Normal University, Hu Biliang, to promote initiatives for the generation and exchange of knowledge between CAF and the EMI. In this study center he gave a master lecture and was named Guest Professor. 

Thus, CAF's Executive President ratified the intention of continuing to promote multidimensional relationships with key actors, to advance in deepening the strategic relationship between China and Latin America on the basis of a common, long-term, dynamic, and balanced agenda.
