Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean: towards a relevant partnership

Sponsored by CAF –Development Bank of Latin America– the EU-LAC Foundation and GIGA (German Institute of Global and Area Studies) held an international seminar entitled “New grounds for the relations between the European Union, Latin America and the Caribbean: Towards a relevant partnership.”

(Hamburg, Sept. 18). The seminar was opened at Hamburg’s City Hall with a welcome address by Mayor Olaf Scholz, as well as opening remarks by CAF Europe Director Guillermo Fernández de Soto; GIGA Acting President Detlef Nolte; EU-LAC Foundation President Benita Ferrero-Waldner; and former Dominican Republic President Leonel Fernández. The seminar included three panels and a final debate, in which new scenarios for regional relations were explored with a view to the EU-CELAC summit in Santiago, Chile, in January 2013.
