The program seeks to provide Ecuadorean enterprises with a platform of knowledge for their internationalization

July 02, 2015

CAF, Development Bank of Latin America, jointly with Federación Ecuatoriana de Exportadores (Fedexpor)(Ecuadorean Federation of Exporters), and Pro Ecuador, signed a technical cooperation agreement to promote the "Exporting Excellence" program, aimed at Ecuadorean enterprises with the potential to expand in the international market.

The program seeks to improve entrepreneurial capacities through the implementation of innovating processes and entrepreneurial management provided by organizations that specialize in foreign trade, so that the results of the training may have a positive impact on the country's trade balance, and are aligned with the transformation policy of the productive matrix.

Bernardo Requena, CAF's Director Representative in Ecuador, highlighted the importance of having entrepreneurial strategies that promote non-traditional exports and allow for a sustainable growth of the economy. In addition, he pointed out that the private-public alliance of the project is a success factor that connects Fedexport and Pro Ecuador to continue achieving goals in the placement of Ecuadorean products in the international market.

At the same time, Felipe Ribadeneira, Executive President of Fedexport, said that the improvement of the entrepreneurial capacities seeks to promote the exporting virtuous circle: more exports, more income of foreign currencies, more resources for the State, and greater generation of quality employment.

As part of the program, potential enterprises will be identified so that with training and technical assistance they may penetrate the markets that have been analyzed as appropriate within an exporting plan.

The initiative also seeks to identify exporting best practices from the point of view of the private and public sectors, under the methodology of the International Trade Center.

The program will be implemented during an 18-months period, and the Ecuadorean enterprises chosen for the program will have a knowledge platform for their internationalization.
