(Medellin, March 4, 2008).- The Andean Development Corporation and Caja de Compensación de Antioquia (COMFAMA) have organized the forum to share experiences and propose financing alternatives for all the social sectors of the country.

The event, which has the support of the Banca de las Oportunidades Program of the National Government and Asocajas, will discuss issues related to the achievements and challenges of microfinance in Latin America, micro-insurance as a microfinance tool, massive expansion of micro-pensions, micro-saving, lease-to-purchase housing for popular sectors, and entrepreneurship and risk capital with high value added.

During the forum, representatives of the Central American Microfinance Network and USAID, along with other international organizations, will enter into a proactive dialogue with executives from the national entities of the sector on a massive expansion of financial services.

With this forum, CAF fulfils its purpose of supporting the most unprotected sectors of the population which have limited access to the financial system, in an effort to achieve economic growth with equity, as set out in its Agenda for Integrated Development.
